El Gouna is a self-contained resort town on the Red Sea, built around lagoons, canals and islands a short drive north of Hurghada. It has a different feel from the big beachfront strips: low-rise architecture, walkable and bike-friendly areas and a lively marina and downtown.
It suits couples, friends and families who want a stylish base with plenty of restaurants and activities close together, plus kitesurfing, diving and golf nearby.
