Hurghada stretches along Egypt's Red Sea coast and is one of the country's busiest and most varied resort destinations. It combines a large choice of 5-star resorts with easy access to reefs, islands and desert excursions.
Its international airport makes it a convenient gateway, and the wider area includes quieter resort districts to the north and south for guests who prefer a calmer base.
Highlights
Island boat trips
Day trips to the Giftun Islands combine snorkelling stops, beaches and a relaxed day at sea.
Water sports
Diving, snorkelling and wind-driven sports are all available along the coast, with centres at many resorts.
Desert evenings
Sunset safaris and Bedouin-style dinners in the desert behind the coast are a popular half-day option.
Best time to visit Hurghada
Hurghada is sunny almost all year. March–May and September–November balance warm days with a comfortable sea. Winter is mild with cooler evenings. Summer is hot, but the sea is at its warmest.
